How to use cannabis to your advantage?

“Cannabis is the single most versatile herbal remedy, and the most useful plant on Earth. No other single plant contains as wide a range of medically active herbal constituents.” – Dr. Ethan Russo, Director (International Cannabis and Cannabinoids Institute).

Hey Reader,

I wish you good health and prosperity this year (though my wish is not enough, you gotta work for it. Or you may wanna try CBD. Still, you have to work for it).

We have been discussing the Cannabis Plant, particularly CBD, for a while now. We have covered almost every ground, be it scientific theories or real-life experiences; everything has been given undivided attention in the previous blogs.

Today, I would let you know how you can use Cannabis to your advantage. Whether you’re a workaholic, a fitness freak, an entrepreneur, a homemaker, or an artist, it will keep you going throughout the day, week, month, or year.

So, let’s address the elephant in the room.

Cannabis – The Most Mysterious & Misunderstood Plant On Earth!

While I was preparing this blog, a thought kept strumming my neurons – Why is cannabis the most misunderstood plant on earth?

Have you ever been apprehensive about Aloe Vera or Lillies?

Did you ever have a second thought before eating cabbage or potato?

No, right?

I found two reasons why.

First, most plants have hundreds of species, but nobody is familiar with more than a couple besides botanists. For example, Sunflower Family (Asteraceae) has nearly 24,000 species (I knew only the yellow one so far. Don’t judge me).

Second, like people, places, and things, we have built memories (good and bad) around plants, too (remember how you shrink on watching cacti?). You don’t burn your brain cells before eating potatoes because you’ve always been told that it keeps your belly full and does no harm to your body.

But did you know potato is also used for making medicines, which may have side-effects?

Or frequent consumption of potatoes may increase the blood sugar level in your body (I don’t wanna freak you out. It’s a fact.)?

Like Sunflower or any other plant, the Cannabis Plant also has several species, and similar to potatoes, it serves umpteen purposes.

There are more than 110 cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant (CBD is one of them).

Unfortunately, most people across the globe are familiar with only one of these, THC (the psychoactive compound found in the cannabis plant).

So, when we hear about cannabis, the only image that comes to our mind is dancing under the effect of marijuana buds.

Poor cannabis never had credible advocates like the sunflower.

The problem isn’t in the plant. It’s in our perception of the plant.

Children of Cannabis – Popular Cannabinoids Found in the Cannabis Plant

I’m the fourth child to my parents (they loved kids, so they never bothered counting).

Though my siblings and I have originated from the same source, it remains the only commonality among us. Besides, our actions, behaviour, and characteristics differ by miles from each other.

My first brother has always been the most sensible, responsible, and caring one.

My second brother has always been the most hard-working one.

My third brother is the laziest among all, and I have always been a brat.

Like my parents, the Cannabis Plant also has many children with different characteristics and effects (nobody is asking you to favour only one of them).

Cannabidiol (CBD) – I have mentioned it repeatedly, and I won’t mind saying it one more time that CBD is a non-psychoactive compound, harmless. It helps treat various ailments such as depression, anxiety, muscle pain, PTSD, and so on due to its affinity with the Endocannabinoid System (ECS).

Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) – I would call it I, the most notorious among its siblings, a troublemaker (not every time, though). THC is a psychoactive compound. It is present in a high concentration in Marijuana or Weed. THC also aids in fighting various health conditions, but because of its psychotropic characteristic, it is mainly criticized in the so-called civilized societies.

Cannabinol (CBN) – You can assume CBN to be the main product of THC degradation. CBN concentration in the Cannabis Plant isn’t high. However, when stored, CBN content increases as THC concentration decreases in the plant. CBN is mildly psychotropic and mostly used as a mood stabiliser.

Tetrahydrocannabivarin (THCV) – THCV is mostly found in the cannabis plants grown in Central Asia and Southern Africa. It is a non-psychoactive compound. In fact, THCV is an antagonist of THC, which means it lessens the ‘high’ effect caused by the THC.

No Matter Which Cannabinoid You Use, What You Make Out of It Is Up To You

For once, let’s keep the laws aside.

Say you can use any form of cannabis without the need to dodge the legal system (I know this sounds rubbish, yet let’s assume).

And you picked CBD or THC.

How will you use it?

Or how should you use it?

While researching Cannabis, I must have read more than a hundred articles from researchers across the globe. Everyone has a different take on Cannabis. Yet, there were a few commonalities in their findings.

Each of those articles clearly mentioned that though more human trials are needed, whatever evidence is out there hints towards Cannabis’s impeccable ability to provide relief to the human body and mind (Don’t consider it a lie. I’m here to sell nothing).

So, cannabis may cure common physical and mental conditions that most of us encounter in our daily lives, like anxiety, stress, mood swings, fatigue, hypertension, muscle pain, so on and so forth (No! cannabis doesn’t cure heartbreaks. But it fosters romance).

Say you’re having a tough time concentrating on your work. No matter how much you’re pushing, you just can’t keep going without breaks.

It will undoubtedly impact your performance, resulting in stress or anxiety (secretion of stress hormones in abundance).

What cannabis does is aids in suppressing the stress hormones, restoring the normal mental state.

And when you don’t freak out, you barely need breaks.

However, you must not forget that Cannabis is not a magic pill. It won’t work for you until you do (remember what I had said in the first line?).

To get the desired results, you must balance your Cannabis consumption with physical and mental strength training (Yoga, TaiChi, Calisthenics, Running, etc.).

In India, CBD products can be purchased without bothering the law (you can buy marijuana, too, but there could be consequences).

Just Google and you will find credible online stores like Hempstrol, 13 Extracts, Hempistan, etc., offering a CBD product for almost every condition.

Do give it a try, and let me know if you see any improvement in your mental or physical state.

Don’t forget the exercise part. That’s indispensable!

And do give me a thumbs up if you find my words valuable (a thumbs down will also do. I don’t mind).

See Ya!
